Scope
One of the world’s largest oil and gas companies engaged ICR to support a cold-work repair solution at a crude oil stabilisation facility in Saudi Arabia.
The project involved the removal and replacement of a damaged section of 8” Schedule 40 Class 150 ASTM A105 pipeline (ASME A106 Grade B) operating at 100–160 psig and temperatures between 80–120°F, processing soft water within the facility.
The client required a safe, efficient and fully compliant repair methodology that would minimise operational impact while maintaining asset integrity and reducing overall execution time.
Solution
ICR deployed its Quickflange™ weldless connector technology to complete the repair using a fully cold-worked methodology. The damaged pipe section was cold cut in situ and removed before a new spool piece was installed using two Quickflange™ connectors.
The scope was carried out by an experienced Quickflange™ Supervisor alongside technicians from ICR’s in-country partner, GCC Technical Services Co. Prior to installation, pipe ends were inspected and verified as suitable for installation, with all required surface preparation completed to specification.
The Quickflange™ connectors were installed in minimal time, eliminating the need for welding, hot work permits and associated production disruption. Following installation, leak testing was successfully completed, confirming full system integrity prior to reinstatement.
Results
- Rapid cold-work replacement of a damaged pipeline section without hot work or shutdown.
- Successful installation and leak-tight verification of both Quickflange™ connections.
