Quickflange™ Emergency Generator Cooling Line Repair – FPSO North Sea

Scope

An upstream oil and gas operator required ICR’s support to urgently replace a corroded section of the emergency generator cooling line, which contained glycol, on a North Sea FPSO.

A temporary Technowrap™ composite repair had been installed to maintain the integrity of the line in the short term. However, a permanent spool replacement was required.

With hot work to be eliminated from the repair scope, ICR’s Quickflange™ technology provided a safe and efficient solution. ICR delivered the engineering support, materials and specialist personnel required to replace the damaged pipe section and restore the integrity of the cooling line.

Solution

Following isolation of the line, a straight cold cut was carried out by the ICR Technician to ensure the Quickflange™ connector would sit flush with the pipe edge.

Once the cold cut was complete, the hydraulic installation tool was aligned within the pipe, and the Quickflange™ connector was installed to facilitate the required spool replacement. The completed installation was then successfully pressure tested to the required pressure, confirming the integrity of the connection.

Results

• Avoided a critical outage for the customer, ensuring there was minimal disruption to asset operations.
