Graduate Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join the Repair Technical Team, based in Carnforth. 

The Graduate Mechanical Engineer will work within the Repair Technical Team to assist with the design of ICR’s Repair products and services Quickflange™ connectors, On-site machining equipment, Leak-sealing mechanical clamp repairs and Engineered composite repairs. 

The role reports to the Engineering Technical Authority. 

The main tasks and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: 

Main tasks: 

• Provide technical support during the enquiry process and to liaise with the Sales and Operations teams throughout projects. 
• Support technical business development strategies. 
• Provide technical support to installation teams. 
• Perform calculations from first principles and appropriate industry standards following training. 
• Design and produce drawings for parts and assemblies using 3D Solidworks. 
• Undertake desk-based and workshop investigations. 
• Coordinate with internal support functions for workshop trials, tests and investigations. 
• Ensure and promote procedural use and adherence. 
• Develop Mechanical Engineering skillset including the use of Finite Element Analysis. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Ensure the correct specification of ICR’s Repair products and services in accordance with company rules. 
• Provide clear and concise advice to internal and external customers on all ICR’ Repair product and services. 
• Produce high-quality engineering drawings, documentation, and reports. 
• Compliance with all ICR HSEQ processes and standards/ 

Key skills, Experience & Attributes: 

• Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline 
• Exposure to 3D modelling software (ideally Solidworks) 
• Strong organisational and planning skills 
• Problem resolution and process familiarisation 
• Analysis and decision-making skills 
• Excellent interpersonal skills 
• Strong ability to multi-task 
• Excellent administration skills, including report writing 
• Significant Microsoft knowledge and experience
